Dynamic QR code cost in 2026: what you really pay per month

What does a dynamic QR code cost per month in 2026? We read the pricing pages of eight providers on 14 October 2026 and wrote down the entry price, the number of dynamic codes, the scan limits and the billing rules. Then we ran one example through five of them: 30 codes for a year.

The dynamic QR code cost you see on a pricing page is rarely the amount you end up paying. Some prices only apply with annual billing. Some plans cap scans. Some add-ons cost more than the plan itself. And some providers switch your codes off when you stop paying, which turns a cheap plan into an expensive reprint. We read the pricing pages of eight providers on 14 October 2026 and wrote down what each one asks.

A note on fairness before we start. EUQR is one of the eight, and we sell dynamic codes. We have kept every figure to what the providers publish themselves, with the date we checked. Prices change, so treat this as a snapshot and check the source before you buy.

Dynamic QR code cost at eight providers

EUQR

Starter costs €0.99 per month or €9.90 per year for 10 dynamic codes and 50 short links. Pro costs €9 per month for 50 codes, Business €19 for 200 codes and Agency €49 for 1,000 codes. Every plan has unlimited scans. Prices are in euro and exclude VAT. There is no trial, but static codes are free without an account.

QR.io

One plan at $39.99 per month, or $350 for 12 months. It includes unlimited codes and unlimited scans, plus a 7-day free trial and a 7-day money back guarantee.

Scanova

Prices on annual billing: Basic $5 per month for 3 codes, Lite $9 for 10, Standard $35 for 50 and Pro $75 for 500. Ultra Lite is a one-time $150 for one dynamic code with lifetime validity. Scans are unlimited and the trial lasts 14 days. The monthly billing amounts were not readable on the page.

ME-QR

The free plan allows up to 10,000 codes with unlimited scans, but every code shows ads. Lite costs $16.99 per month, or $10.50 per month on yearly billing, and makes one code ad-free. Premium costs $27.99 per month, or $15.08 on yearly billing, and removes ads from all codes.

Uniqode

The pricing page says plans start "as low as $9/month" and that Core costs $49 per month. Plans are billed in USD and only annually. Scan limits reset once a year. The page does not say how many dynamic codes each plan includes.

QRCodeChimp

Starter costs USD 9.99 per month, or 6.99 per month on yearly billing, for 50 dynamic codes and 10,000 scans per month. The free plan includes 10 dynamic codes and 1,000 scans per month.

qr-code-generator.com

Starter includes 2 dynamic codes and 10,000 scans. Advanced includes 50 codes and Professional 250 codes, both with unlimited scans and annual billing. The page showed a dash instead of each amount, so we cannot quote a price. The trial lasts 14 days.

QR Tiger

The pricing page returned an error when we tried to read it, so we do not quote a price here. Our comparison with QR Tiger covers its plans and what happens after cancellation.

The costs that hide behind the price

Four things change the real cost more than the headline number does.

Annual billing. Uniqode only sells annual plans. Scanova shows its prices on annual billing, and qr-code-generator.com bills Advanced and Professional annually. A price of $35 per month then means a single payment of $420 up front. EUQR and QR.io let you pay monthly.

Scan caps. A plan with a scan limit is cheap until your campaign works. QRCodeChimp Starter stops counting at 10,000 scans per month and its free plan at 1,000. A code on packaging or a busy poster can pass that quickly. EUQR, QR.io, Scanova and ME-QR list unlimited scans.

Add-ons. A custom domain costs extra almost everywhere. Scanova charges $120 per domain per year on top of Pro. Uniqode lists a custom domain add-on at "$2000 per domain per year" on its Plus plan. EUQR only offers a custom domain on Enterprise, which is priced on request.

Cancellation. This one is easy to miss. Scanova writes that dynamic codes are "automatically deactivated" when a subscription ends. Uniqode writes that cancelled codes "will become inactive". QRCodeChimp moves you to the free plan and pauses every dynamic code except the last 10. If your codes are printed, the real cost of cancelling includes the reprint.

A worked example: 30 codes for 12 months

Take a chain of six bike shops. Each shop wants five dynamic codes: the window, the counter, the repair tag, the price card for rental bikes and a flyer. That makes 30 codes, used for a full year. Here is what the cheapest plan that fits costs, using annual billing where it exists.

  • EUQR Pro (50 codes, unlimited scans): €90 per year.
  • QRCodeChimp Starter (50 codes, 10,000 scans per month): about $83.88 per year.
  • ME-QR Premium (ad-free codes, unlimited scans): about $180.96 per year.
  • QR.io (unlimited codes and scans): $350 per year.
  • Scanova Standard (50 codes, unlimited scans): $420 per year.

QRCodeChimp comes out cheapest on paper, as long as the six shops stay under 10,000 scans a month in total. EUQR is close behind in euro, with no scan cap and with the Recovery Page if the chain ever stops paying. ME-QR would cost nothing on its free plan, but every customer who scans would see ads. We have not converted dollars to euro, because the rate on your statement will differ.

At higher volumes the order shifts. Above 200 codes you need EUQR Agency at €49 per month, and the flat QR.io plan at $39.99 per month becomes the cheaper option for very large fleets of codes.

What €0.99 and €9 buy at EUQR

The Starter plan at €0.99 per month gives you 10 dynamic codes, 50 short links on qreu.eu, unlimited scans and 30 days of analytics. You can change the destination of every code after printing. Analytics show scans by country, device, browser and language, as aggregate counts, without cookies and without storing raw IP addresses. You can see how that works on the scan analytics page.

Pro at €9 per month adds 50 codes, 250 links, 90 days of analytics, 4 seats, print-ready EPS and PDF export and CSV export. Both plans include the Recovery Page. All plans are on the EUQR pricing page, and the product itself is described on the page about editable dynamic codes.

When a higher price is worth it

The cheapest plan is not always the right one. A few situations justify paying more, and it helps to know them before you compare numbers.

If you manage several hundred codes for many locations, a flat plan without code limits saves admin time. Nobody has to delete old codes to make room for new ones. If your team needs bulk creation or a custom domain on a mid-range plan, providers that include those features can be worth their higher monthly price. EUQR does not offer bulk QR generation, and its custom domain is part of Enterprise only.

If your codes appear in front of customers, ads on the scanned page carry a hidden price of their own. A free plan with ads may cost you trust at the moment a customer is most interested. In that case an ad-free plan is the cheaper choice, even when it shows a higher number on the pricing page.

Finally, think about what you will print. A code on a menu that changes every season is easy to replace. A code etched into a metal sign or printed on 20,000 boxes is not. For those, the cancellation rules matter more than a few euro per month.

How to compare offers fairly

Before you sign up anywhere, answer five questions for your own situation. How many dynamic codes will you have in twelve months? How many scans could your busiest code get in one month? Do you have to pay a year up front? What does a scanner see on the day you stop paying? And in which currency will you be charged?

The same questions work for short-link tools. Our article on the limits of Bitly's free plan shows how a free tier can still cost you later. For a broader view of providers based in Europe, read our guide to QR code generators in Europe.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest way to get a dynamic QR code?
For a handful of codes, a low entry plan is cheapest. EUQR Starter costs €0.99 per month or €9.90 per year for 10 dynamic codes with unlimited scans. ME-QR has a free plan with dynamic codes, but every code shows ads. Scanova Basic costs $5 per month on annual billing for 3 codes (all checked 14 October 2026).
Why do dynamic QR codes cost money when static ones are free?
A dynamic code sends every scan through the provider's server, which forwards it to your destination and counts it. That server has to run for as long as your code is printed. A static code stores the URL in the pattern itself, so nobody needs to run anything after you download it.
Do I pay per scan?
At most providers you do not pay per scan, but some plans cap the number of scans. QRCodeChimp Starter includes 10,000 scans per month and qr-code-generator.com Starter 10,000 scans, while Uniqode limits reset once a year. EUQR, QR.io, Scanova and ME-QR list unlimited scans. Check the cap before you print on packaging or large posters.
Are prices in dollars more expensive for European businesses?
Not necessarily, but they are harder to plan. The euro amount on your card statement moves with the exchange rate, and your bank may add a fee for payments in a foreign currency. EUQR prices are in euro, excluding VAT, which is calculated at checkout. Compare the total you pay, not the headline number.
What happens to the cost if I cancel?
The monthly cost stops, but the printed codes may stop as well. Scanova and Uniqode deactivate dynamic codes when the subscription ends. QRCodeChimp pauses all but the last 10. EUQR shows your Recovery Page for 90 days and then a generic page, so a cancelled plan never turns your print into a dead link.
